Satellite-TV provider Dish Network now allows you to Tweet and Post with its latest Hopper Whole-Home HD DVR.

The Social app allows you to link up to four Facebook accounts and four Twitter accounts to your DVR, and you can choose from the following three options for types of content displayed in the status bar on the right-hand side of the screen:

  • My Facebook: Once users log in to Facebook, their Facebook News Feeds are displayed, and they can post status updates, including the option of choosing from a selection of pre-drafted status updates.
  • Now Watching: Users see the Twitter feeds that are related to the shows or channels they are watching at the time.
  • My Twitter: Once users log in to Twitter, they see their personal Twitter feeds, along with full functionality — favorite tweets, reply to tweets, retweet, and create new tweets.

Earlier this month, Dish Network revamped its Dish Anywhere mobile app, allowing users to instantly share their mobile viewing activities on Facebook and Twitter, along with personalized comments and support for hashtags.

Dish Network Director of Product Marketing and Management Jimshade Chaudhari said, Last year, Twitter saw 32 million Americans tweet about TV programming — an incredible display of consumer interest in wanting a more social experience from TV. Through our Social app, we’ve made it easier for consumers to follow social conversations and post in real-time without leaving their TV screens.
